As you've seen on the streets lately, the combination of baroque style and streetwear has produced some incredible results. Project X Paris has broken new ground with a collection completely inspired by baroque style, and it's been seen everywhere: Ninho, Cyril Hanouna, and even in season 2 of Lupin!

When luxury finesse meets the street

Nothing in the world of street art was originally destined to encounter the Baroque style, inspired by the Renaissance. Initially an architectural term, it gradually spread to all creative fields, from painting and sculpture to opera. The style is characterized by a kind of exaggeration of detail and form, with many contrasting effects. At first glance, it's hard to imagine how this idea could be adapted to streetwear. And yet it is. Inspired by the recent baroque collections of Italian haute couture brands, Project X Paris decided to adapt the concept to offer a collection so inspired by the street as to be worn, for example, by Ninho, number 1 rapper in France a true icon of his generation.

The connections between the worlds of streetwear and haute couture have become much more intense today, and the two worlds influence each other, to the point where rappers can end up collaborating with fashion designers. The baroque style was the perfect opportunity for Project X to offer a capsule that combined the most "basic" streetwear (tracksuits, t-shirts) with the most dazzling baroque effects. The aim was to create a collection that was a little more refined and radically different from what we've unveiled so far, while retaining the guideline of a garment that must remain street. This time, there are no big logos or tie-and-dye effects, but rather prints integrated directly into the fabric. for optimum visual effect.

Gold details are very present throughout the collection, the most obvious baroque touch. The aim was to make the pieces more "noble" thanks to the effect of the very bright gold reflections, while creating a contrast with very dark colors around the prints, to make them stand out better. But very quickly, we realized that it worked almost as well putting the gold prints on white fabrics, as in the tracksuit ensemble worn by Ninho during our last shoot with him. So people can choose the color to suit their mood: a darker, streetwise look in black/gold, or a much brighter, flashier look in white/gold. In each case, a tracksuit set with a zipped jacket, plus a small polo shirt with a zipped collar, also very effective.

For the occasion, PXP chose to revisit its logo to offer an even more stylish version with an "autograph" effect. The last piece in the collection is the inevitable hoodie, which Ninho always wears as well as ever. It has to be said that NI and hoodies are a true love story, as is often the case with rappers. At Project X, we're obviously delighted with the positive feedback from artists on this baroque collection. At the same time, the exaggerated details, contrasts and golden hues are very much in keeping with the rapper's world of folie de grandeur. For Ninho, it gives him a "princely" touch that suits him very well, and we can't wait to try this kind of experiment again with their young French rap prodigy. But the piece can also be worn more discreetly, as in episode 2 of season 2 of Lupin, during a passage with the very young Assane Diop played by Mamadou Haïdara.

The Barock Club from the Baba Collab collection

But rappers aren't the only ones who go overboard, and Cyril Hanouna, the most boisterous, exuberant and energetic host on the French airwaves, won't tell you otherwise. Cyril, or "Baba" as he's now known, is never at the end of his tether when it comes to outbidding a joke or a bit of nonsense, but he's also a fan of rap, urban culture and current fashion and streetwear. Perhaps that's why he's one of the hosts with the highest sympathy ratings: he's close to the people, and sometimes dresses on set as you would in the street. Not a lot of suits in his on-set panoply, but rather trendy streetwear, with stylish zip-up jackets and sometimes very exuberant, very street pieces. This second installment of the Baba-collab was therefore child's play for us, since PXP and Cyril Hanouna expect the same thing from a garment: that it stands out.

Baba lent himself to the game, and liked the collab so much he even wore it on stage. It has to be said that the pieces are very attractive and make a strong impression, while remaining in the same baroque spirit, this time with a few slight differences. Rather than confining the details to one part of the garment (torso/sleeves for the t-shirt, for example), we opted to make them as large as possible and put them all over the garment. The aim was also to offer garments in a more summery, sunnier mood, and this mission was accomplished, notably with the two shirts (short- or long-sleeved), which are a real success. But we're also very proud of the overall look. Bomber collar jacket + sweatpants baroque style, which is clearly the most ambitious and innovative piece in this collection. The articulation around the 4 colors blue/white/black/gold with highly exaggerated details perfectly embodies the synthesis between the luxurious side of the baroque style and the street side. Also available, the Baba-Collab baroque t-shirt is a much more discreet piece, which is certainly easier to match with other styles. We advise you to take advantage of it, as the collection has been specially designed for summer, and we're right in the middle of it!
