A benchmark in FPS-style arcade shooters, the Call Of Duty franchise has left its mark on video game history. And it continues to do so with Warzone 2.0, the Battle Royale whose season 2 has just been released. For the occasion, Project X Paris is offering you an exclusive limited-edition collab!

Call Of Duty, the benchmark for shooting fun?

Video games have become a major part of our culture, and are one of the most widely traveled media in the world. Wherever you are on the globe, almost everyone more or less knows who Mario is, the Italian plumber who pioneered the video game industry. The ubiquity of video games is fairly recent, dating back some thirty years or so. With the multiplication of televisions in the home (one in the living room, one in the bedroom, etc.) and the appearance of the first mass-market home consoles, such as the Super Nintendo, Playstation or Xbox (which came a little later), this pastime spread everywhere. Not to mention PC gamers, who are building increasingly high-performance gaming computers, with liquid cooling systems for example. Video games, and now even e-sports, have become true mass cultural phenomena. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world watch gaming tournaments on Twitch, the most popular streaming platform. A hobby, then an e-sport, but also and above all an industry that raises billions worldwide, organizes conferences and where competition between studios is fierce, pushing developers to release ever more ambitious games.

And in this game, Call Of Duty, the little gem from Infinity Ward and Activision, does rather well. In fact, it's fair to say that COD has become the benchmark for shooters over the years. At least in terms of fun, since its launch in 2003, the Call Of Duty franchise has focused on intuitive gameplay, with realistic weapons that make it easy to get to grips with the game, and a strong emphasis on fun. Above all, where "Call Of" stood out from the competition was in its emphasis on multiplayer. They were among the first to offer a friendly, lively multiplayer experience, and since the release of "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare" in the late 2000s, they have become benchmarks in this field. In doing so, they have forced gaming into a new era: that of multiplayer, of consoles connected all over the world to compete simultaneously, of microphones and voice chat. In short, they helped shape the video game as we know it today, where multiplayer modes have become essential, even central, to most types of game.

Now that you're familiar with the franchise (although you probably already were), let's get down to the hot topic of Call Of Duty news: the latest addition to the series (for now), which goes by the sober name of Call Of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0. A Battle Royale mode, where you're dropped onto a huge map, alone or in a team, with the sole aim of being the last one alive at the end of the game. The playable area shrinks little by little, so you have to be clever in your movements. You can, of course, retrieve your customized weapons as you play. Weapon customization, another crucial aspect of Call Of Duty's history. Season 2 of Warzone 2.0 has just been launched on February 15, 2023. If it arrived two weeks later than originally planned, it was all the better to surprise us with lots and lots of content. A new combat pass, as in every season of course, but above all 3 new weapons, and the return of the more nervous Resurgence mode, much in demand by the community. All this on a brand-new map, Ashika Island, with its Japanese-inspired decor, which we'll talk about later. Between that, and the weapon balancing that gives us a much wider range of choices than in Season 1, we've got perhaps one of the best seasons since the very first Warzone came out in 2020. In short, an update that does a lot of good for players, and for the game, which had experienced some turbulence after a record-breaking first few weeks in terms of numbers.

Warzone 2.0 x PXP: it's a blast!

As you can see, Warzone 2.0 is the game to be in at the start of 2023, with season 2 satisfying most of the expectations of fans of the franchise. And to mark the occasion, Call Of Duty has decided to go all out on communication, as only they know how, notably by multiplying its partnerships. With this in mind, we at Project X Paris agreed to collaborate with the franchise to bring you an exclusive, limited-edition collab. A somewhat unexpected collaboration, but streetwear has always been inspired by the various cultural and social movements of its time, and video games have become an essential element with a huge impact, particularly among young people. After street-art, hip-hop culture, soccer and influencers, as well as manga such as One Piece, we're delighted to be tackling video games. Even more so because we're doing it alongside a legendary franchise like Call of Duty, which deserves its place in the video game pantheon.

Let's move on to the collab, which this time is more special than the previous ones. In fact, this one will be created as a limited edition, and each piece in the collection will be numbered, so that each model is in some way unique. An excellent way to make sure you stand out from the crowd, with a piece that only a few will have. There's nothing worse than having the same jacket as two of your buddies at a party... But this time, there's no jacket on the program, as we're still in a rather wintry mood here at PXP. And winter means cold, and therefore the need to cover up with something warm. What better way to do this than with a good sleeveless down jacket, slipped over a sweater for example. And it's just the thing, since one of the two pieces in the capsule is a sleeveless hooded jacket. Black in color, it is zippered, and has a stylized logo on the chest that reads Call Of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0 and Project X Paris. Another reminder of "Warzone" is on the bottom left of the down jacket, and the cherry blossoms on the hood are a reminder of those found on the brand-new Ashika Island map, if you look hard enough.

A detail that adds a little color and whimsy, the PXP touch, to a room that remains fairly streetwise and dark, in a very drill-like delirium. The mood is the same for the second piece, which is quite simply a thick, quilted hoodie. No zipper this time, but the same black color, with the stylized logo on the torso, and the Warzone reminder on the lower left sleeve. With its thick quilting, it's the ideal garment for cold-weather outings, and once again it's a technical winter garment, very much in demand for a "drill" style. Cherry blossoms are also featured on the hood. You'll also find your model number on each of the two pieces. The edition is limited to 1,000 pieces per model, so if you're a fan of video games, Call Of Duty, Warzone 2.0 and streetwear, go for it! Because you probably won't be the only one...
