Planète Rap 2 football match: Who are the players?

We are just a few days away from the big kickoff of the second edition of the Planète Rap football match, a partnership between Skyrock and Project X Paris, benefiting the Abbé Pierre Foundation. The match, which pits rappers against influencers, will take place on Sunday, June 11th, and it’s an opportunity to bring together many stars for a great celebration, and above all, for a good cause. At PXP, we want to share the list of our favorites, focusing mainly on the rappers, hoping they will shine on Sunday!

Soso Maness, like a no-brainer

It couldn’t be a real football match with rappers without Marseille artists. Because yes, football in Marseille enjoys true passion, and the club is always part of the DNA of all the city’s residents and surroundings. And naturally, Soso Maness is also a big fan of OM and football. He even had the chance to step on the pitch of the Vélodrome for the Match of Heroes a few years ago. We don’t know if he will be the most technically skilled, but we do know he will be there to bring the atmosphere, as he did during our collaboration with him, and also to motivate the team with a speech, if he manages to keep his seriousness. Capable of all sorts of antics on the field, definitely one to watch closely!

Fresh, the peufra in the top corner?

Obviously, there aren’t only French players at the Planète Rap 2 football match, and Belgium also thought to send us some talent. The cream of the crop, in fact, since we will have the honor of hosting the winner of Nouvelle École season 1, Fresh. No need to introduce him: a true mic slicer, aggressive but also technical, and above all, quite tall and strong, the rapper could be just as dangerous as a central defender as he is a striker whose size will be unmanageable for opposing defenders. And anyway, when your name is Fresh “La Peufra,” you have to try at least once to send a powerful shot into the top corner. We pity whoever has to defend or attack against him throughout the match.

Uzi, the virtuoso

To be honest, we’ve never really seen Uzi play a football match. But if the rapper is as skilled with the ball as he is with a mic, expect to be surprised. We also know he is a big football fan, having become known through a video clip where everyone wore an Arsenal jersey. And generally, Arsenal fans love beautiful football, which is exactly what we expect from the young rapper, who we imagine quite quick with the ball at his feet: creativity, madness, with maybe a touch of arrogance and talent. We know he’s full of resources, as we saw during our shoot with him, and he also has the advantage of youth, something others like Soso Maness or Naps no longer have. Two good reasons why we’d see him as a winger, a position where flair is allowed and even encouraged.

Naps, the veteran

We tease Naps a bit about his age, but he will probably be the oldest participant in this Planète Rap 2 football match, unless Fred Musa decides to step onto the field himself to pull off some nutmegs (a scene we’d pay to see). But Nabil has other tricks up his sleeve: his experience, synonymous with true knowledge of positioning and game understanding. An understanding enhanced by the many football matches he has watched, as a big OM fan himself. We don’t know if his cardio is still up to par, but again, expect to see him play an important role in the group’s cohesion. And he’s no slouch when it comes to bringing the atmosphere either; we hope the banter will be as lively as the Marseillais know how to do during the match!

Hatik, the team star?

Watch out, danger! The player we’re about to introduce has everything to be one of the key elements of the match, capable of almost single-handedly tipping the balance. Hatik has proven several times, in his lyrics or in various interviews (including one on After Foot, which is no small thing), that he is a true connoisseur of football. He has also shown that he is in great physical shape, notably with his performances on stage or in “Validé” season 1, where we saw he had an athlete’s physique. He’s even been seen messing with the ball in some videos you can find on YouTube. We can tell you one thing: he has a powerful shot, and in a match like this, that can be enough to tip the scales. Definitely one to follow closely, especially since we imagine he will have a rather offensive role in his team, so chances are high to see him shine!

Timal, box-to-box

Another big player this time coming straight from the 77, with Timal. If we had to define him on the mic or in life (we got to see it up close during our collaboration a few months ago), we’d say he’s a very talented guy, relentless and never gives up, aggressive, and also quick and attentive. All the qualities required to be a good midfielder. He has endurance, cardio, and he shows it when he kicks almost without stopping to breathe in some of his early tracks. The rapper is always on fire and at 25, he should be in his prime, so we hope to see him put as much energy on the field as when he raps. If he does, he will burn everyone, and easily. And if the coach decides to play him as a number 6, expect to see him harass opposing attackers throughout the match, like a Gattuso back in the day.

Kodes, the wing man?

We know, we haven’t provided many fullbacks or defenders in our list so far. But Kodes could well be the wing man we need, the guy who makes furious runs with the ball before cutting inside or sending a ball into the opponent’s box. A versatile position for those who can do almost everything with a ball, like Kodes with a mic, who probably has the most varied palette of all the Bat 7. And anyway, footballers with locks, besides being stylish, are often monsters. Remember Edgar Davids.
