La Place: the palace where the crown is contested
You have to head beneath Les Halles to find the beating heart of Parisian hip-hop. La Place, a hip-hop cultural center tucked beneath the Canopée, just celebrated its 10th anniversary in early October. Ten days of exhibitions, concerts, and battles to remind everyone who runs the place.
A month later, the palace reopens the throne room. In November 2025, the first edition of Urban Underground crowned its first kings and queens. The promise of this sequel can be summed up in one line: a second edition that's even more intense.

"Last year, champions came out on top. This year, everyone's coming to take them down."
La Place, official presentation of Urban Underground
Why do krump and hip-hop refuse to bow their heads?
Krump isn't danced; it's unleashed. Arms striking the air, chest thrust forward, gaze locked on the opponent: it's raw energy channeled into movement. Nobody steps into the circle just to look good.
Hip-hop plays by a different rhythm. Flow, groove, musicality, creativity in the moment. Where the krumper takes command, the hip-hop dancer wins over the judge and turns the circle around with style.
Two schools, one shared law: attitude before rules. That's exactly what speaks to us at PXP. Streetwear was born in these very same circles, far from imposed codes, and it has never asked permission.
Did you know?
Krump was born in the early 2000s in South Central, Los Angeles, led by Tight Eyez and Big Mijo. It was David LaChapelle's Rize documentary, released in 2005, that introduced it to the world.
The lineup: seven hours to bring down the kings
The format is merciless: 1vs1, nothing but 1vs1. Three official crowns are up for grabs: Krump Guyz, Krump Girlz, and Hip-Hop. A fourth category remains under wraps until the big day, just like last year's Guest Surprise.
The tension builds step by step throughout the day. Opening show, Top 8, semifinals, then the judges' demo, when the masters of the discipline remind everyone why they hold the pen. Then come the challengers' finals.
And the winner doesn't walk away with the crown just yet. They still have to face the reigning champion. That's the whole point of this edition: the throne isn't won, it's taken.
Our prediction is clear. Defending a title against challengers who've had a year to prepare their assault is the most precarious position in the circle. At least one crown will fall on November 15.
From the crowd to the circle: the challenger's guide
First things first: book on Shotgun; the event is reservation-only. Expect to pay €15 presale, €10 per person for groups, and €18 if you try your luck at the door.
Second: don't hang around on the day. Krump is best experienced from the front row, where you can feel the impact and the sweat. The best spots go to the earliest arrivals.
Last but not least: seven hours of battles takes some preparation. Whether you're dancing or backing your crew, what you wear is part of the fight.
Battle fit: the challenger's uniform
In the circle, your clothes need to take a beating without holding you back. On the bottom, loose joggers tapered at the ankle or cargos that let your legs move freely with every stomp. Up top, an oversized hoodie or hooded jacket: a silhouette that takes up space before the first move. It's this spirit of movement and improvisation that guides our PXP Studio line. Our editor's tip: layer up—you'll take off one layer each round.
The crown is up for grabs
The 2025 kings have a year of rule behind them; the challengers have a year of hunger ahead. On November 15, beneath the Canopée, the throne may change hands: the countdown begins.
