Pedri from Barça in Project X Paris!
Project X Paris is recognized as the number 1 streetwear brand, and you can see it through the outfits of stars who don’t hesitate to show off in PXP. So, naturally, we’re very happy when footballers like Pedri wear their best Project X outfit. It’s time to take a closer look at the young Spanish phenomenon.
Pedri, Iniesta’s successor?
Yes, Barça had a lot of trouble getting back on track after its golden era in the late 2000s / early 2010s. The fault lies with the extremely high bar set by the group formed at the time by Pep Guardiola, led by Xavi, Puyol, Iniesta, and a young Messi who would become the best player in the world at that moment. But also due to some unfortunate sporting decisions, like letting Messi, Suarez, and Neymar leave in a very short time. But in 2023, the Catalan club can smile again, crowned with its new status as Spanish champion after almost 4 years without major titles. A return to the forefront that they owe at least partly to the talent of Barça’s new generation of players, of which Pedri is a part.
And with more than 40 matches under his belt, we can even say that Pedri is one of the leaders. Firmly established in midfield, he has finally regained the level he had during his completely inhuman 2020 season. That year, he played more than 70 matches across all competitions (he even played the Olympics with Spain), a superhuman feat that ended with a serious injury to his right thigh. But now, Pedro Gonzalez Lopez (his real name) is back at the top, and it shows in his team’s results and play. The player is one of the team’s metronomes, capable of cleanly distributing any ball, with excellent vision and surprising agility, even for his build. In essence, we can say he is Iniesta’s designated successor, even if the road is still long before reaching the same level as the Barça legend.
And if we needed another reason to love the player, he is also a man of taste, with an interest in streetwear. Especially for your favorite brand, Project X Paris, which he sometimes wears when sponsorship contracts allow him to dress as he wishes. Like after Barça’s fabulous 4-0 victory against Betis Sevilla on April 29th. A great evening after which Pedri strolled through the stands of Camp Nou wearing Project X Paris cargo pants, the Cargo Jean with pocket and strap to tighten the bottom of the legs. In black, paired with a black hoodie as well, for a sober yet super stylish outfit. Contrary to what one might think, the Cargo Jean at PXP can also have a bit of an all-around vibe, especially in this color!
Project X Paris and football: a mad love
At PXP, we are obviously very happy to be popular with a football player of Pedri’s caliber. Because we are fans of football too, and also because the brand took advantage of the 2022/2023 season to make a big impact in the football world. Thanks notably to several promo spots broadcast during the World Cup 2022, a campaign that introduced the brand to millions of people during high-stakes matches like the France/England semi-final. A real pride for us, and also for you who are increasingly supporting us.
But our involvement in football is not limited to advertising spots. We were also major players in the Planète Rap 2 match : Rappers VS Streamers which took place in early June. A gala match held at the Auguste Delaune stadium in Bobigny, organized for the benefit of the Abbé Pierre Foundation to help in its fight against poor housing. A very beautiful moment of entertainment but also of communion and mutual aid, values carried by football and that we are happy to promote through these initiatives. We hope to be able to do it again from the first edition.
Finally, we also want to thank the many footballers with whom we have collaborated or who have decided to wear Project X Paris on their own, like Neymar, Presnel Kimpembe, Malcom, David Luiz, Nabil Fekir, Corentin Tolisso, Riyad Mahrez and many others.
