Beafrika 2026: why does Badgyal Cassie keep the Afrobeat rhythm?

An Afro beat, a stage in Ivry, dancers waiting for the first beat. Since 2021, a pulse has been growing in French dance, class after class, camp after camp, until it became an entire ecosystem. Behind this beat? Badgyal Cassie and Beafrika, keeping the rhythm going throughout 2026.

Show 2026: the Ivry stage that set the pace

On June 28, 2026, Beafrika brought its show to Ivry-sur-Seine. Three hours, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., to bring to the stage what the collective works on all year long. No camp this year: the Show carried the beat of 2026 on its own.

That’s the Beafrika rhythm. The camp editions took place in 2023 and 2025, with the next one coming in 2027. Between camps, the heart keeps beating: it beats at the Studio, at the Battle and on stage.

Who is Badgyal Cassie, the beating heart behind Beafrika?

Born in Central African Republic and raised in France, Badgyal Cassie started dancing at the age of four. She later trained in hip-hop at Juste Debout School, one of Paris’s leading schools.

That journey gave rise to Beafrika, the collective and school she founded. Cassie doesn’t teach a dance: she passes on a pulse, the pulse of Afro dances, to an entire generation of dancers.

Paris quickly followed suit. As early as 2023, La Place, the hip-hop cultural center in Les Halles, began hosting her monthly Afro workshops in partnership with Beafrika. In 2024, the venue strengthened the collaboration with training sessions limited to 25 students.

From 55 to 280 dancers, from one studio to an ecosystem

The numbers show how fast it’s growing. The camp went from 55 participants in 2023 to 280 in 2025, in Montpellier. In just two editions, the event has reached a whole new level.

The Studio beats to the same rhythm. Beafrika counts more than 380 students trained since 2021, with classes in Paris, a branch in Italy in partnership with Dara Corps, and the Netherlands on the horizon. Studio, Camp, Battle, Show: four beats, one rhythm.
