A cell, court files, and millions of streams hanging in the balance. The dizzying rise is complete: from Parc aux Lièvres in Évry to the top of the charts, then the fall in September 2024. On November 14, Prime Video releases Koba LaD: Demain j'arrête, six episodes confronting this dizzying story.

Koba LaD: Demain j'arrête, a six-episode documentary series, on Prime Video November 14, 2026.

From Parc aux Lièvres to the top of the charts

It all starts in Évry. Marcel Junior Loutarila grows up in Parc aux Lièvres and becomes Koba LaD, one of the names that shook up French rap in the late 2010s.

The rise is steep. VII in 2018, followed by L'Affranchi in 2019, puts Koba at the top of the charts, track after track, feature after feature. In 2024, the joint album Frères ennemis with Zola reaches number one in France.

A straight-line trajectory to the top. The kind of altitude where the slightest misstep comes at a steep price.

September 2024: the fall that changes the whole story

The turning point has a date. In September 2024, the car driven by the rapper crashes into a stationary truck. His front-seat passenger, a close friend, loses his life.

On June 26, 2025, the Créteil court sentences Koba LaD to six years in prison for aggravated involuntary manslaughter. The judges cite two aggravating circumstances: excessive speed and drug use. His driver's license is revoked.

Other legal proceedings had already marked his career, notably over violent offenses. Prime Video makes no attempt to hide this context: the platform presents the series as the story of his rise and fall, and states that the artist has been in prison since September 2024.

Did you know?

Demain j'arrête isn't a title invented for the platform. It's the eighth track on L'Affranchi, the album Koba LaD released in 2019. Today, the track becomes the title of his own story.

The track that gives the series its title: Demain j'arrête, from L'Affranchi (2019).

Our prediction: the series will be judged on its clear-eyed approach

French rap has become accustomed to platform documentaries. This one starts from a darker place: a victim, a conviction, an artist behind bars.

At Radar PXP, our bet is clear. Demain j'arrête will be judged on a single criterion: looking at the fall with the same precision as the rise. Telling the story of the hit without sidestepping the tragedy—that's the tightrope.

If the series strikes that balance, it will go beyond a simple rapper profile. If not? It will remain a story told from the heights that forgets the void below.

THE PEAK, THEN THE VOID

Six episodes to measure the height of the peak and the depth of the fall. On November 14, the dizzying story finally faces the truth, and the countdown begins.
