L2B x M. Pokora: the pairing no one expected
At the end of May, a simple teaser was enough to shake up Instagram and TikTok. In the video: Matt Pokora behind the wheel of a powerful sports car, surrounded by KLN, IDS and D2, the three members of L2B. The media kickoff was given.
On paper, no one had checked this pairing. On one side, Pokora, revealed by Popstars, over twenty years of mainstream hits and venues considered guaranteed. On the other, the most prominent Parisian trio of the moment, propelled by Pélican and Flying Blue.
On the anthem field, this unlikely duo looks like an unprecedented double pivot. Pop holds the block, rap launches the attacks. Two generations, two audiences — one goal.
Vibe check: the teaser of “Trophy”, unveiled by M. Pokora and L2B.
From Vegedream to “Trophy”: eight years of quest
Summer 2018. France lifts its second star, and “Bring the cup back home” by Vegedream becomes the unofficial anthem of the victory. Since then, nothing has stuck.
The bar is high. Vegedream’s track imposed itself even in Les Bleus’ locker room, sung in chorus by the players themselves. Before it, Magic in the Air had made an entire World Cup summer dance, in 2014.
Eight years later, the spot of official anthem is vacant. “Trophy” arrives on this ground: that of songs that end up belonging to the stands. The bet is huge, the window ideal.
Can a chorus carry Les Bleus to the title?
The released excerpts give a clear line: a chorus made to be chanted, rap verses, and a message of confident assurance.
"Have confidence in yourself, it’s going to be alright"
— Excerpt from the “Trophy” teaser, May 2026
The other punchline heard in the teaser sounds like a passing of the torch: “Who will bring the trophy back home?”. The nod to Vegedream is direct, assumed. It’s a declaration of candidacy.
You know the rule of the genre: an anthem only marks its era if the team goes all the way. The fate of “Trophy” hangs on the journey of Didier Deschamps’ men. That’s the whole bet — and what makes the event feverish.
June 5, kickoff: what to expect
The digital release is set for Friday, June 5, 2026, on all platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube. The official video is expected shortly after. Mark the date, the drop is coming fast.
Meanwhile, Les Bleus are heating up at Clairefontaine before flying to North America. Kickoff on June 16 against Senegal, then Iraq and Norway in the group stage.
Did you know?
The 2026 World Cup is a tournament of records: 48 nations at the start — a first — and three host countries, United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will also be Didier Deschamps’ last major competition as head of the French team.
One summer, one candidate anthem, one team on a mission. At Project X Paris, we’ve already circled the two dates. The “Trophy” match is played on June 5 — Les Bleus’ on eleven days later.
Bring the hit back home
On June 5, L2B and M. Pokora kick off Les Bleus’ summer. If the stands adopt the chorus, the track will play its own World Cup — and the countdown begins.
