One Piece arc Elbaph: after September 30, nothing until 2027

A ground trembling under steps too big for the screen. For twenty-five years, the anime promised this land without ever daring to set foot on it. This time, the stride is here, and it advances every Wednesday in France. The One Piece Elbaph arc enters its last two episodes on Disney+.

Elbaph, the land of giants, finally tread by the anime after twenty-five years of waiting.

The Elbaph arc in brief

  • On Disney+ France: listed as season 40, one episode every Wednesday
  • Launch: April 5, 2026 on Fuji TV, starting with episode 1156
  • Format: 25 episodes, from 1156 to 1180
  • Season finale: episode 1180 on September 27 in Japan, September 30 on Disney+
  • Theme song: “Luminous” by AiNA THE END

Season 40 on Disney+: decoding a confusing numbering

Open the app, type One Piece, and the dizziness begins. Disney+ places the Elbaph arc in season 40 and restarts its own counter, S40:E1, S40:E2, while the rest of the world talks about episodes 1156 and onwards. Two systems telling the same story and overlapping.

So don’t look for episode 1179 in the menu. Look for the season order number and convert it yourself. The rule is a simple addition: 1155 + the displayed number.

The schedule itself is stable. Japan airs on Sunday, Disney+ France follows every Wednesday, three days later. Block Wednesday evening, that’s when the stride resumes.

From 1156 to 1180: the season that changed scale

The change is not limited to the island. Toei Animation broke the continuous broadcast held since 1999 to switch to a seasonal model, maximum 26 episodes per year, in two blocks. This first season counts 25. A break interrupted the rhythm on July 5.

Visible result on screen: shots that breathe, giants restored to their grandeur, an adaptation pace close to the manga. The series no longer runs after itself. It walks at the scale of its characters.

Did you know?

Before Elbaph, One Piece was broadcast without seasonal breaks since 1999. The switch to the “maximum 26 episodes per year” format makes this season 22 the first in the series to be produced like a modern anime season, with a dedicated production block rather than a continuous flow.

What’s left to see before the break?

Two episodes. Not one more. Episode 1179 airs on September 20 in Japan, September 23 on Disney+, titled “One Do-or-Die Second, Gaban vs. the Knights of God.”

The duel has been set since the previous episode. Scopper Gaban cut Sommers’ arm, and the limb did not regrow. This detail changes the power balance against the Divine Knights, while Nico Robin holds her line and Elbaph’s library remains threatened.

Then comes episode 1180, on September 27 in Japan and September 30 on Disney+. It’s the season finale, not the arc’s. The difference matters: the anime stops at a peak, while the manga has long since moved past this chapter.

The theme song setting the scene

The opening Luminous is by AiNA THE END, the ending Sono Mirai is by Jisoku 36km. Two tracks crafted for a season that plays gravity rather than joyful adventure, with editing that establishes the Divine Knights as the real threat of the arc.

After September 30: the next step is a movie

No return date is confirmed for the anime continuation. The schedule has already shifted elsewhere: Toei announced One Piece Film: God Valley for summer 2027, followed by a feature film titled Baad in 2029.

The break is clear. Where Red, Stampede, or Gold told standalone stories, God Valley adapts a part of the main story, the flashback readers have awaited for years. The film won’t be a parenthesis, it will be a step on the staircase.

That’s why we watch these last two episodes differently. They don’t close a story, they mark a pause in a journey that has just begun to take its true dimension.

ELBAPH STILL WALKS

Two episodes, then silence. Such a stride doesn’t stop at a season finale: the ground of Elbaph is already trembling for what’s next, and the countdown to 2027 starts now.
