Uzi storms French rap
Uzi, the street’s new generation
Before summer 2020, Uzi was a relatively unknown young rapper, even though he had already been performing for at least 4 or 5 years through various videos, clips, or freestyles notably. But since the release of the track “A la fête”, he has become a star of the Francophone rap game. With 45 million views reached quite quickly, it is now hard to miss the new phenomenon coming from the 77. 21 years old, from Noisiel, the rapper is a troublemaker in a rap scene sometimes too uniform and sometimes struggling to fully develop its ideas, especially in clips.
The young Uzi has no complexes and you can feel he worked on his image the same way as his album: with care. “Coeur Abîmé” was released on February 19, 2021, bringing with it the certainty that the rapper had all the cards in hand to become one of the greatest of his generation. 19 tracks, all solo, and a musical variety on the project quite impressive for a young 21-year-old artist. Indeed, he knows how to handle energetic bangers, dance tracks, or rather sad and melancholic songs. This melancholic but angry and determined side never leaves him, it might be his trademark.
Uzi and Project X Paris steal the show
You know it, rap and image/style are now two essential pillars of urban cultures. On the image/style side, Uzi is not left behind and we can even say he is perfectly in the game. He caught everyone’s attention by dressing all the extras in the “A La Fête” clip with Arsenal Gunners jerseys. But that’s nothing compared to what he prepared next. Shirts and polos in “A l'aise”, or a thick puffer jacket in the “Cœur Abîmé” clip, streetwear has no secrets for him anymore. It’s no coincidence that he decided to collaborate with Project X Paris for their new collection: he loves clothes, even more when they are original.
Original, even unique models, Project X Paris has plenty. Like the plaid overshirt in black/grey or red/black. Two pieces that were streetwear classics, especially in New York in the 90s, brought back to life by Uzi and PXP. The hoodie + black and white tie-dye tracksuit set is also very effective on him and well worn, even though it is one of the brand’s most innovative pieces. Obviously, the piece that suits him best is probably one of the most “street” in the PXP catalog: the red “Project X Paris Crew” hoodie, with the logo in quite a large size, embroidered on the chest. A must-have that makes it look like Uzi has always worn it since birth, it feels so natural.
You got it, Uzi is the rap of tomorrow. It is therefore with pride that we welcomed this partnership here at Project X Paris. Because he is an artist who seems to want to last, proof: since the release of his first record in February, he has already appeared in many featured clips, notably with ISK, always with big streaming numbers. And that is a sign that doesn’t lie.
