The Witcher takes its bow
Since 2019, The Witcher has imposed its dark fantasy universe on Netflix: a lone witcher, clashing worlds, and a girl destined for a greater fate. Adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, the series is about to close the book.
This season 5 will be the last. The word has been given without hesitation: the time of the end is near. After five seasons, the hunt, betrayals, and Ciri’s quest finally find their conclusion. Needless to say, a meeting fans are eagerly awaiting.
A season already in the can
Good news for the impatient: the season is already filmed. Netflix shot seasons 4 and 5 back to back, from March to September 2025, mainly in the UK with shoots in South Africa. Season 5 is now in post-production.
The big question remains: when? Netflix has confirmed a release in 2026, but without announcing a precise date to date. Given the schedule of season 4, launched in October 2025, several observers bet on a fall 2026 landing — a hypothesis, not a certainty. The platform promises a tighter window later.
Cast and plot: the end according to the books
At the helm, showrunner Lauren Hissrich remains faithful to her post. On the casting side, the central trio is present: Liam Hemsworth reprises the armor of Geralt of Rivia for his second season, alongside Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri). About twenty new faces join this final chapter, including Shani, played by Emily-Jo Young.
