First Turn: why the Nouvelle École x CUPRA album stands out

A subway platform, a giant poster, eight faces just off the screen. Before the final even took place, the talents of New School had already made their first turn, pedal to the metal and pen in hand. Behind this flying start? Premier Virage, the album co-produced by CUPRA and Netflix.

Premier Virage: eight talents from season 5, one starting line.

Premier Virage at a glance

The school of the streets: eight freestyles with a blank slate

The starting point comes down to one prompt: tell the story of the school of the streets. What shapes you, what knocks you down, what keeps you on course. Each talent received their roadmap and real freedom to write.

The project is by CUPRA and Netflix, created by BBDO Paris and the Netflix Brand Creative Studio. It is part of the global University of the Streets campaign, which accompanies the launch of the CUPRA Raval, an all-electric city car.

New School, rap’s testing ground

Netflix’s rap talent show wrapped up its fifth season with a judging panel made up of SDM, Theodora and Oli. In the end, Marseille-born Typhee, 23, takes home the winner’s €100,000 prize.

The result: eight tracks in 21 minutes, released in September under the name “New School x CUPRA.” A short, high-energy format that doesn’t linger on any straightaway.

Who’s behind the wheel of Premier Virage?

The season’s top three are all here. Typhee, crowned the winner, shares the spotlight with the two finalists, Nayte and Mischa. Around them, Ozzy, Ans, Base, Kynn and Yanamko complete the lineup.

Each takes the curve in their own way. Yanamko delivers Formentor, while Kynn speeds into Ride. Nayte, a finalist with a voice you’d recognize anywhere, lays down Criminel chante.

Looking for a way in? Start here: just one freestyle is enough to get the vibe of the record.

More than a sponsorship, a record

The project’s standout moment is called Jamais rentré. A cypher is a track where rappers take turns passing the mic around. Here, the eight talents trade verses after an introduction by Oli, one of the season’s judges.

The track was unveiled exclusively on Planète Rap on Skyrock, and is also playing on the Netflix France YouTube channel. This is where the turn really happens: eight paths, one track.

A must-watch: Jamais rentré, the cypher featuring the eight talents from season 5, released by Netflix France.

The rest of the campaign embraces its status as a full-fledged production. A limited-edition collector’s vinyl is planned, and the brand is credited directly on every track, not hidden in the credits. A large-format poster has also taken over Madeleine station in Paris.

Paris Motor Show: the road leads to Porte de Versailles

Next stop on the journey: an exclusive showcase featuring the talents at the CUPRA stand at the Paris Motor Show. The show is open to the public from October 13 to 18, 2026, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.

The exact date of the showcase hasn’t been announced yet. Keep an eye on New School’s social media: the next turn comes in mid-October.

THE ROAD STARTS HERE

Eight talents, eight journeys and a first turn taken at full speed. After the screen and the studio, the Paris Motor Show stage awaits them, and the straightaway is only just beginning.
