Street League Paris 2026: after two fractures, the comeback

Saturday night, the clay gave way to concrete and rails. A king said to be asleep after two fractures and seventeen months without a title woke up in front of nearly 10,000 people. At Roland-Garros, Nyjah Huston reclaimed the Street League in Paris.

The day at a glance

  • Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026, Suzanne-Lenglen Court, Roland-Garros
  • Men: Nyjah Huston (36.4 pts) ahead of Toa Sasaki (35.4) and Giovanni Vianna
  • Women: Chloe Covell (31.9 pts) ahead of Coco Yoshizawa (31.5) and Liz Akama (30.5)
  • Record score: 9.5 for Ginwoo Onodera, the highest-scoring trick in the men's final
  • Audience: nearly 10,000 spectators, the 5th stop of the 2026 world circuit

Seventeen months asleep: the awakening of a battered king

At the start of 2026, nobody would have bet on this scenario. In January, Nyjah Huston fractured his skull. In May, it was his jaw. At 31, the Laguna Beach legend had not won a Street League stop in seventeen months.

The format is easy to follow. Each skater strings together 45-second runs, then attempts individual tricks, the “best tricks.” The four highest scores out of 10 count. Score above 9 and you enter the exclusive Nine Club.

Nyjah made it in three times. A run at 9.2, then 9.1 and 9.2 in best trick, and a final 8.9 to seal the deal. Total: 36.4 points, without a single score below 8.9. The trick of the night? A nollie heelflip noseblunt on the kink rail, the angled rail that scares the whole circuit.

It’s his 28th SLS victory, and he makes no secret of what’s next: he wants to reach thirty. This comeback is no farewell. He is now first in the 2026 standings, with 47 points.

Street League streamed the entire day live on its channel. The full replay is online, including the qualifiers and finals.

Who could still steal the crown from him?

Only one man truly made the throne tremble. Toa Sasaki, 19, finished on 35.4, one point behind the king. His best trick, scored at 9.2, matched Nyjah’s on the same kink rail.

But the night's standout moment came from elsewhere. Ginwoo Onodera landed a 9.5, the highest score of the final. Not enough for the podium, but enough to send the stands wild. Brazilian Giovanni Vianna completed the top three with two tricks scored at 9.0.

For the French crowd, the night left a bitter taste. Vincent Milou, the 2025 Paris winner, landed a 9.2 run, the same score as Nyjah. He finished fifth, let down by his last two tricks.

"The atmosphere is crazy, the crowd pushes you, maybe even a little too much. That's why I didn't land my last two tricks. I was going too fast, had too much energy."

He’s also come a long way. Just two months earlier, an injury was still keeping him off his board. Paris marks his true return to form, and that’s no small thing.

Skate media outlet Riding Zone had predicted this enthusiasm even before the first run. The video below was published ahead of the competition to invite fans to Suzanne-Lenglen Court.

Chloe Covell: a second Paris crown

In the women's event, the duel was decided by four tenths of a point. Chloe Covell claimed the win with 31.9 points, ahead of Japan's Coco Yoshizawa on 31.5. Olympic silver medalist Liz Akama took third place.

The Australian had to hold her own against five Japanese finalists. She landed a nosegrind nollie flip in competition that she hadn't been able to land in practice. Injured Brazilian Rayssa Leal, absent from the final, left the field wide open.

It’s her second win in Paris, following 2024. She names her role model without hesitation: “For me, Nyjah is the GOAT.” She says she started skateboarding watching him on TV. On Saturday, they lifted the trophy on the same night.

From Paris to Tokyo, a season on edge

The circuit offers no respite. Next stop: Tokyo, at Ariake Arena, on November 14, 2026. Then the grand finale, the Super Crown, on December 12 and 13 in São Paulo.

In the standings, Nyjah leads with 47 points, with Vianna close behind on 45. A two-point gap ahead of Tokyo and the Super Crown. Mark these dates: the king has opened his eyes, but the throne isn't secure just yet.

The king has awakened

Two fractures, seventeen months of silence, then an awakening marked by three Nine Club scores on the world's most famous clay court. Nyjah Huston didn't say goodbye in Paris. He reignited his quest for thirty wins, and the next chapter unfolds in Tokyo.
