New School season 4: who are the candidates?

Netflix restarts the engine. Season 4 of Nouvelle École arrives on October 31, with a brand new format and a generation of rappers ready to battle. Gone is the three-headed jury: SDM and SCH take control, and this time, the public will be able to vote on Spotify. But beyond the show, one question arises: who are the artists selected this year? Spoiler: the level is much higher than you might imagine.

Elten: the sniper from 95

Originally from Val-d’Oise, Elten might be the one whose name was circulating the most even before the broadcast. In 2023, he made his mark with Autarcie, an introspective project, followed by the sharper Le Chant des Munitions. In 2024, he returns with Karasu, a dark and intense album. Precise writing, mastered storytelling, cold ego-trip… he carves out a unique path. Latest singles? “Champagne Amer” and “Nako Beta Yo”, which confirm his artistic DNA: raw, sharp, visual.

To announce his participation, he dropped a freestyle on his social networks, accompanied by a message that sets the tone:
"NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A MAN WHO IS HUNGRY!"
Everything is said.

Guerta: the modern-day samurai

Guerta is the UFO of the season. Of Vietnamese origin, he blends technical street rap, dreamy melodies, and a sharp Japanese aesthetic. He already has three projects to his name, including “Les Derniers Samouraïs” and the Jutsu series. With his sharp punchlines and codified visuals, he imposes a complete universe, between loyalty, spirituality, and direct kicking.

Shayne: the 95 vibe that hits hard

Originally from Gonesse (95), Shayne has been lighting up stages since he was 15. He raps, he sings, he energizes. In 2024, he releases the EP "CONTROL", where he mixes cloud rap, trap, and more alternative melodies. His style recalls Travis Scott or Tory Lanez, with an extra dose of rage and lucidity. He has already rocked stages like La Maroquinerie or his concert with Kerchak, and his visual universe is as worked as his productions.

LauCarré: Oli’s protégé

Revealed by the Radar contest, spotted by Oli, LauCarré doesn’t come empty-handed. He has already been in the Planète Rap studios, opened for shows, and has three projects in his discography, including "Merci la vie pour les douleurs" released in 2025. 78,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, sincere and technical rap… He’s no beginner, but Nouvelle École could be his springboard to the top level.

Ekloz: the southern and experimental touch

Ekloz comes from Marseille, with a broad artistic background. Former dancer, she masters the stage. But it is as a rapper that she reveals herself: able to alternate melody, trap, or more experimental sounds, she shows true creative freedom. Her track “Olala” is a good example of her ability to think outside the box.

LeDibz: the melancholic poet from Toulouse

Le Dibz is the artist who turns sadness into sensitive music. His track "Ma petite phase mélancolique" is a showcase of his style: fine pen, muted atmosphere, calm flow. He doesn’t play on brute force, but on controlled emotion. A discreet outsider who could leave a mark.

Angie: Breton softness and refined pen

From Brittany, Angie is no novice. First project in 2019, notable comeback in 2023, then a joint EP with Lazuli. She just released “Aveux d’amour”, a sincere 3-track project. Rap or singing, she handles both with ease.

2L: kick, accuracy, and technique

Rapper from the 20th arrondissement of Paris, 2L develops a dark and precise style, carried by a calm but sharp flow. Very little publicized, she relies on the raw effectiveness of her lyrics and a mastered minimalist aesthetic. Between pure trap and tense atmospheres, she embodies a new wave of out-of-the-box artists, with a cold and straightforward intensity.

Eve la Marka: a musical warrior in transition

Formerly LMK, Eve La Marka comes from Annecy and boasts solid stage experience. Having performed at festivals, concerts, and even Planète Rap, she navigates between hip-hop, reggae, and dancehall, with a controlled voice and strong presence. Her name change marks a new era, more mature and sharper.

R One: the Swiss battle killer

R One comes from Switzerland and, according to rumors, he is a battle machine. He has already released several EPs, including the recent “Candide”, and his writing is fine, thoughtful, and precise. He is still young in the game, but this kind of format could make him explode.

A season where no one comes to play

This new season of Nouvelle École clearly shows its intentions: intensity, clashes, and above all artistic diversity. From raw rap to soaring singing, from technique to emotion, each candidate has their own vibe, their own language.

Netflix has gathered an artistic furnace. Now, it remains to be seen who will hold the fire.

Who will win Nouvelle École season 4?

The big winner of Nouvelle École season 4 is Shayne: discover here.

Winner Nouvelle École season 1: Fresh LaPeufra

In 2022, it was Fresh LaPeufra who won the very first season against Ley's and Elyon. An explosive finale, marked by his track “Chop”, which went viral. His victory launched a career now well established in the Belgian and French rap scene.

Winner Nouvelle École season 2: Yuz Boy

Season 2 saw the triumph of Yuz Boy, an artist with an alternative vibe who had seduced the jury with his atypical artistic direction. The final also featured Coelho and Dau. A season marked by more musical diversity and a stronger focus on visual creativity.

Winner Nouvelle École season 3: Youssef Swatt's

The previous season, in 2024, it was Youssef Swatt’s who won thanks to his fine writing and sincerity, ahead of Dadi and Jyeuhair, two very different but equally striking artists. A very coherent podium, and a season rich in emotions and memorable moments.

Team SCH vs Team SDM

This year, no more trio of judges. SCH and SDM take the reins alone, in an unprecedented face-off. They are not just judges: they also become coaches, strategists, and direct opponents. Each candidate will have to choose their side and defend their colors in a competition that takes on the appearance of a permanent clash. A true battle format, where the tension promises to be constant.

Why are Shay and Niska no longer on Nouvelle École?

Shay and Niska (present in the first two seasons) left the show following a concept change desired by Netflix. In reality, the goal of this season 4 was to move from a “tripartite” jury to a direct confrontation: Team SCH vs Team SDM.

A way to reinvent the show, inspired by formats like The Voice or Star Academy. And also, let’s be honest, to stage a duel of francophone rap titans. This dynamic creates a more direct competition, where candidates are at the heart of team strategies.

The public becomes an actor in the show

Netflix bet on a big novelty for season 4: the public could vote via Spotify. During the Cyphers challenge, viewers had to choose between two tracks anonymously produced by SCH and SDM. An unprecedented interactive format that turns fans into silent judges, capable of directly influencing the season’s progress.

Which rappers appear in Nouvelle École season 4?

Besides the 9 candidates detailed above, season 4 also includes guests and prestigious coaches:

  • Oxmo Puccino, Vald, Rim’K, Bigflo & Oli, Ronisia, Guy2Bezbar and Théodora make appearances to support the candidates or guide writing sessions.
  • Former candidates like Leys, WarrenD or Youssef Swatt’s will return in a special episode.

The show is no longer just a contest. It becomes a mini-laboratory of French rap, where connections, influences, and styles mix.
