Damso needs no introduction. We all know at least one track from the rapper: “Bruxelles Vie”, “Autotune” or “Amnésie”.
The Belgian rapper Damso releases his 2nd album. Expected in stores this Friday, April 28, he returns with a new opus titled “Ipséité”. After delivering a heavy first album “batterie faible” certified gold with over 50,000 sales, Booba's protégé offers us an album that is introspective this time.
With this new project, Damso invites us to philosophize about ourselves and our relationships with others. “Ipséité” means “self-identity”. It is the relationship we have with ourselves, as opposed to “alterity” which is the relationship we have with others.
The word “Ipséité” can refer to a phrase the rapper says in “Amnésie”: “I'm neither theirs, nor yours, nor ours”.
In the interview given to OKLM on April 19, he gives his own version of ipséité: “The ability to remain the same despite the changes happening in our lives”.
The album will contain 14 tracks just like his first album. Damso goes solo this time and offers only one feature with Youri on the track “Peur d’être père”.
On March 29, the artist posted on his Instagram account a black and white photo showing a stream with the caption “Nwaar is the new Black”. We know he likes to play guessing games with his fans.
We saw it coming, because indeed the title is the first single from “Ipséité”.
