His father, Romain, of Guadeloupean origin, a former amateur footballer turned bus driver, took him to see FC Nantes. His mother, Maryse, worked in textiles. Little Ciryl loved football and basketball but refused training centers. His reason, still famous in the family: he didn’t want to “grow up too soon”.
Garbage collector, furniture salesman: the first jobs were far from glamorous. The legend of the Bon Gamin didn’t start in a fancy gym. It started in Vendée’s anonymity, with a kid still searching for his path.

The turning point came late. At 24 years old, a friend dragged Gane to the Puteaux Scorp’Thai club. Five to six months later, he was already stepping into a ring. His coach saw the obvious: a 1.96 m frame, speed, raw potential. The message was simple: come for real, or don’t come at all.
He came for real. What followed was a statistical anomaly. Two-time French Muay Thai heavyweight champion in 2016 and 2017, an amateur record of 13 wins, zero losses, including a decision against a WBC world champion. In a few years, the garbage collector became a machine.

March 2023, UFC 285. Facing Jon Jones for the title, the dream collapses in two minutes. Guillotine submission in the first round. Gane calls it a nightmare. He cried. The wave of hate on social media changed him deeply: he cut off the media, deleted personal posts, almost only posts gym content.

The promised awakening happened. June 2026, UFC Freedom 250, at the White House. Gane stops Alex Pereira by TKO in the second round and regains the interim heavyweight title. Performance of the Night, $425,000 bonus. The Bon Gamin is back at the top, confidence at maximum.
One score remains. In October 2025, his unification title duel against Tom Aspinall ended abruptly: a double accidental finger poke to the eyes, fight declared No Contest.
