For those who don't know it yet; it all begins with a mysterious man called the Professor and his ingenious but risky plan. The famous Netflix series that doesn't give you time to catch your breath. Straight from Spain, this series has become in 4 years the phenomenon everyone is talking about.
A remarkable appetizer
"Money Heist" stands out as the popular series of the moment! Heist, gunshots, unexpected twists; such is the recipe for its success. The plot, if you hadn't understood it yet, begins with the adventure of 8 robbers whose objective is to leave with their own banknotes.
Of course, the police won't let them do it. The beginning of this series is simple and piques curiosity. The more we progress in this series, the more we realize that the Professor can be credible with the theory he presents to his team.
Charismatic and authentic characters
The Professor's team keeps their identity secret and for this, each of them is given the name of a city to ensure their anonymity. Tokyo, Berlin, Denver, Rio, Oslo, Helsinki, Nairobi, as well as Marseille, Stockholm, Palermo who will be joined by Sofia during their adventures. Each member possesses a skill necessary for the elaboration of the plan. A team with unsuspected potential and explosive character.
As the series progresses, we get to know them and discover their motivations. The viewer can quickly become attached to these almost peaceful "rascals".
The director, Alex Pina, manages to make certain characters from the opposing side likable. Raquel Murious, in charge of negotiations with the robbers, and Angel, her deputy, both manage to gain a certain esteem in the eyes of the viewers.
Symbol of rebellion
His "rascals" of all kinds do not attack the economy of the people, or of any particular person, and they make this very clear. This is a first in a heist.
Criminals, outcasts, thieves, robbers, madmen... despite all the titles we can give them, they show and denounce at the same time that they are still "less" guilty than some bankers or leaders.
"Money Heist" carries a message of rebellion. Their masks depicting Salvador Dali (famous Spanish painter) could have some similarity with that of the Anonymous.
"For me, this mask means many things, but above all, it represents the spirit that embodies resistance," confides Alvaro Morte, the actor who plays the Professor, in the documentary episode on Netflix.
This mask also symbolizes the painter's madness, as well as his idea of breaking the rules, just like the Professor. Salva (the Professor) will reference the Indignados and their protest movements at Puerta del Sol and confides: "being the grandson of an Italian partisan". The series' anthem, "Bella Ciao", dates back to World War II. It's a song written by Italian revolutionaries who fought against the German forces allied with the Italian fascist movement. The use of this song is highly symbolic. This choice shows the robbers' intention not to steal from the people. In season 3, we see Berlin and the Professor singing " Guantanamera " by Compay Segundo. This is a subtle reference to the Guantanamo prisons, known for violence and questionable torture techniques, and of course, their desire to act in the opposite way, without violence. Their jumpsuits could also be reminiscent of prisoner uniforms. Red is the color of passion and revolution. Despite all these symbols, their objectives are hardly revolutionary. These heroes simply want to enjoy their millions and treat themselves to a dream life.
Denver, whose real name is Jaime Lorente, surprised us by posting a photo of himself in Project X Paris the day before the release of Part 4. Jaime Lorente is no stranger to Project X Paris, as we had already noticed him several times wearing our outfits.
