The event is more than a festival. It is a global ritual that has united the hip-hop dance scene for years. Each edition pushes the limits: more countries represented, more styles confronted, more nights that never end.
From Tuesday, August 25 to Monday, August 31, 2026, Amsterdam becomes the epicenter. The city’s iconic venues light up one by one: Paradiso, Academie voor Theater en Dans, Chassé Dance Studios. Each location has its role, each day its theme. The week is paced like a blockbuster.
The official program is already live on the website. No surprises in the format. One certainty: the fires won’t die down before Tuesday morning.
Locking, popping, hip-hop, house: all fires lit
The heart of the festival is the "Forever" battles. Four major events that mark the week and have become, over the editions, global benchmarks.
The Locking & Waacking Forever kicks off on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 August. The preliminaries drop the first contenders. The final battles raise the temperature. Then comes Popping Forever on Thursday 27, one of the most demanding contests on the international circuit. On Friday 28, Hiphop Forever and House Dance Forever launch their preliminaries simultaneously.
The weekend ignites the climax: House Dance Forever Battles on Saturday 29, Hiphop Forever Battles on Sunday 30. The week closes on Monday 31 with workshops and the closing Basement Session — the last spark.
Each battle attracts judges and competitors from everywhere. The level is such that a victory at SDF counts for an entire career.
