Smeels makes his comeback with "AURA", his new single signed by PXP Records

The urban music scene welcomes a new visual and sonic gem. Since April 24, 2026, the public can dive into the new universe of SMEELS with the release of his latest single titled "AURA". Produced by the label PXP Records, this 2 minute and 20 second track immediately establishes itself as a true calling card for the artist. Between rap, RnB, and soaring melancholy, a breakdown of a release that leaves a mark.

Who is Smeels?

If you don’t know him yet, Smeels is a Franco-Cameroonian artist who shakes up the codes of the current urban scene. Far from the race for technical display, he made a strong artistic choice: to prioritize emotion and the "vibe".

Effortlessly navigating the borders of rap and RnB, his musical universe is characterized by:

  • Soaring sounds that envelop the listener.
  • A soft voice serving a deeply introspective approach.
  • Immersive music where feeling takes precedence over classic storytelling.

Smeels has built himself up completely independently. He developed his style and artistic direction himself, which gives his project a rare authenticity. Today, his strength lies in a highly distinctive sound identity and a unique ability to convey sincere emotions, perfectly in tune with the expectations of today’s audience.

"AURA": a masterful video

Released last April 24, "AURA" is a concentrate of Smeels’ DNA. The track signed by PXP Records relies on a clean and airy production by kwizz and @kofibae that immediately sets a captivating atmosphere.

As its name suggests, the track explores the notion of aura, that invisible but tangible energy a person emits. SMEELS delivers his states of mind, expressing a fascinating duality between self-confidence and great sensitivity. The lyrics skillfully blend melancholy, frustration, and overflowing ambition.

Visually, the video accompanying the single makes the wise choice of minimalism. This clean visual direction remains fully consistent with the artist’s sonic universe, leaving all the space to the music and emotion. More than just a track, "AURA" acts as a clear and effective proposition, quickly capturing the listener’s attention.

The video, directed by YUGOSLAB & Ninorec, was shot in Tunisia, offering rare powerful settings:

  • The boat cemetery in Menzel Jemil: A melancholic scene where abandoned hulls tell the passage of time. Between rust, silence, and horizon, this place exudes a raw charm inviting contemplation.
  • The desert mountains: Wide shots highlighting the artist’s solitude and ambition.
  • Historical remains: Including an abandoned World War II tank (near Yasmine Hammamet) and an impressive temple, reinforcing this timeless atmosphere.

This choice of locations is no accident: it perfectly illustrates the mix of melancholy and strength that characterizes the track.

PXP Records: more than a label, an artistic vision

Behind this major project is PXP Records, a label that places coherence between music, image, and fashion at the heart of its strategy.

The Kodes heritage and the streetwear connection

To understand the DNA of PXP Records, you have to look at its history. The rapper Kodes was the first artist to join the stable. Their historic collaboration is not recent, as Kodes has been many times the face of the streetwear brand Project X Paris (PXP).

Today, the label continues to cultivate this excellence by co-producing Kodes’ latest singles with his own label, No Cap. It is this expertise in developing artists with strong identities that led PXP Records to sign Smeels.

A long-term strategy

The label’s vision is clear: to support authentic artists like Smeels over time. By prioritizing uniqueness rather than passing trends, PXP Records firmly establishes its talents on the French musical chessboard.
