Hip-Hop Rendezvous 2026: why 94 remains a laboratory of urban cultures

Val-de-Marne didn’t wait for trends to write its hip-hop chapter. Since the 90s, the 94 has vibrated to the rhythm of its local scenes, its crews, its cyphers set between housing blocks. At Project X Paris, we know what this department represents for French urban culture.

What the Hip-Hop Rendezvous offers is exactly that: to remind that a department can be a dance floor. Concerts, freestyle, graffiti, cinema, dance — culture is displayed outdoors, in neighborhood halls, on squares and in MJC.

No parachuted pop-up decor. Just a stage that already existed, revealed for nine days. 94 doesn’t play hip-hop. It lives it.

Rap, dance, graff, workshops: the department in multi-stage mode

The Hip-Hop Rendezvous doesn’t rely on a single stage. Several disciplines, one same tempo — that’s the festival’s hallmark since its beginnings.

On the turntable: rap concerts to keep ears hooked. Breaking, popping, krump, voguing and house dance to keep bodies moving. Live graffiti murals to hold the gaze on the department’s walls. Writing, beatbox, DJing and graffiti initiation workshops to pass on what can’t be learned just online.

A departmental festival is that: not a single venue but a wave that spreads. Every city in 94 can become a venue. Every evening can become a frequency.

From June 6 to 14, 2026: nine days you must block now

Block the period from Saturday, June 6 to Sunday, June 14, 2026. Period. It’s the window when Val-de-Marne switches to festival mode and the rest of Île-de-France is invited to the party.

Epicenter: Créteil. But don’t look for a single place — the festival is itinerant, moving from city to city, from cultural facility to public space, from municipal hall to MJC. Ticketing is being prepared on valdemarne.fr: workshops and battles largely free, concerts between €0 and €20.

One thing is already certain. Those nine days, 94 won’t just be a department. It will be a turntable.

Did you know?

Since the 2000s, Val-de-Marne has hosted its own hip-hop rendezvous, rooted in the halls, MJCs and public spaces of the department. The festival mixes concerts, battles, workshops and live murals, with a declared popular vocation: workshops and battles remain largely free to make culture accessible to the greatest number, and preferential rates are planned for young people and residents of 94.

Why could this 2026 edition mark a milestone?

French hip-hop is going through a phase where everything accelerates. The Île-de-France scenes weigh more than ever in the rap landscape, urban dance has gained its Olympic place, and graffiti has traded wastelands for public commissions.

In this dynamic, a territorial rendezvous like this takes on another weight. It’s no longer a festival, it’s an identity card. The department that says: here, it pulses, and it has no intention to stop.

Do you know what that means, concretely? That from June 6 to 14, 2026, you’re not watching a cultural event. You’re watching a scene breathe.

94 RECONNECTS THE TURNTABLE

The Hip-Hop Rendezvous reignites all the speakers in the department and lets the sound do the rest. From June 6 to 14, 2026, every city in Val-de-Marne will tune into the same frequency. The countdown has begun.
