The French urban scene shone brightly once again at La Seine Musicale on Tuesday, May 13, for the third edition of the Flammes. Tiakola, Shay, SDM, and SCH stood out as leading figures in a ceremony where the audience and artists vibrated in unison. Let's look back at the highlights and a rich list of winners.
Tiakola and Shay at the Top
With four trophies, Tiakola simply dominated this edition. The singer, absent due to a seminar in London, took home the Flame for Male Artist, the Best New Pop Album for BDLM VOL.1, the R&B Track with Reste-là (feat. RnBoi & Monsieur Nov), and the Best Launch Strategy. Meanwhile, Shay made her mark by winning two major awards: Female Artist of the Year and Stage Revelation. A double honor for the Belgian icon who imposes her voice and style with flair.
SDM and SCH: Reliable Heavy Hitters
SDM, the big absent winner, shone with three Flames: Rap Album of the Year for À la vie à la mort, Track of the Year, and Featuring of the Year for the banger Dolce Camara with Booba. From Marseille, SCH stood out with Prequel (rap performance), Stigmates (Video of the Year), and the Best Cover for JVLIVS III: Ad Finem. A solid haul confirming their headliner status.
Werenoi Claims the Supreme Title
In the shadow of rap giants, Werenoi made history by winning the Spotify Flame for Album of the Year with Pyramide 2. A dense and accomplished project confirming the artist's rise in the urban landscape. Although discreet at the ceremony due to health issues, his physical absence did not overshadow his musical presence. This accolade secures him a prime spot among the new generation's leaders.
Revelations to Watch Closely
The Flammes also served as a springboard for the new generation. Theodora ignited the stage with her performance on Fashion Designer and took home the trophy for Female Revelation. Among the guys, La Mano 1.9 won the Male Revelation, driven by his sharp vibe and buzz in upcoming festivals. These two names are definitely to watch.
Powerful Moments and Touching Tributes
On the emotional side, DJ Mehdi received the Eternal Flame, a moving posthumous tribute highlighted by a poignant speech from Kery James. Rapper Kaaris was celebrated for his 10 years of Or Noir with the Concert of the Year at Accor Arena. In a militant touch, the Flame for Social Engagement was awarded to the Solidarity Palestine Concert organized by Tif and the label Houma Sweet Houma.
An Urban Scene Shining Beyond Borders
Finally, Aya Nakamura was rewarded for her international influence, proving that French urban music continues to export its vibes worldwide. In the same spirit, the duo Maxalaguitare & Senyaupiano won the Flame for Composers of the Year, illustrating the importance of sound in this cultural explosion.
With 25 categories, an electrifying atmosphere, and artistic diversity that’s a joy to see, this 2025 edition of the Flammes confirmed that rap, R&B, and all expressions of popular cultures have more than ever their place at the top. Looking forward to 2026.
