“La Mif,” the rising series!
Amid all the emerging reality TV projects, “La Mif,” broadcast by Canal + via MyCanal, is one of the most ambitious. The show follows the daily lives of Carla and Kevin from Les Marseillais, and their group of friends through various missions. Project X Paris had the chance to collaborate closely with the series.
Reality TV has not always been popular in France. We notably remember early shows like Loft Story, after which contestants were released into the wild without support from the channel despite their newfound fame, which can be very hard to handle. But nearly 20 years after this style of TV arrived in France, we can say: reality TV is more established than ever. Many franchises have emerged and endured, such as Secret Story, Les Marseillais, Les Anges, and La Villa des Curs Brisés. While these shows can be criticized for being somewhat similar, some try to stand out.
That’s the case with “La Mif,” the show aired on MyCanal by Canal +. This reality TV is not a confinement show and follows Carla Moreau and Kevin Guedj, two proud Marseillais, and their group of friends in their daily lives, spiced up with some missions. The series began its second season at the end of 2021, with 9 episodes, 3 more than the first season. This is due to the growing success of the series, explained by the likability and spontaneity of the characters seen on screen, but also by the notoriety of Carla and Kevin, who, with their wild journey within Les Marseillais, have built a solid fanbase (3.3 million Instagram followers for Carla and 2.4 million for Kevin).
Not everyone manages to last in reality TV: to do so, you have to stand out, which means taking some risks and exposing your character. You also need to have a long-term vision and strong shoulders to handle potential problems caused by fame. Since reality TV is an “unfiltered” genre, public reactions are also quite blunt, and you can quickly become the target of attacks on social media or in real life. But Carla and Kevin have managed to grow their image, stabilizing it, especially after announcing their first child in 2019. With “La Mif,” they aim to bring new ideas to reality TV.
Project X Paris present with “La Mif”! With this new image of a strong couple who have overcome many storms, Carla and Kevin worked with the production company H2O on this reality show somewhat inspired by “The Incredible Kardashian Family” (in the daily star aspect), but much kinder, with far less tension and without the somewhat unhealthy side of the American show. The star couple and their group of friends multiply activities in good spirits (most of the time) and without stress, which is a refreshing change from the very “clash” atmospheres sometimes found in other shows of this kind. For this season 2, the teams chose missions revolving around Christmas, so it’s guaranteed “feel good,” although you can obviously count on our Marseillais to bring the party.
At Project X Paris, we always strive to be close to influencers and work with them, or simply to empower various projects that speak to us. We were thrilled to collaborate with the “La Mif” teams, who even included us in the series, in episodes 6 and 7, when the girls order gifts on our site and Carla wears our famous signature sweatshirt. She wears it in cocooning mode, and having tested it, the model is really extremely comfortable for this use. We at PXP are very happy to count Carla and Kevin among our fans, who are the first (after Thomas and Nabilla) to have a show centered on them and their close ones, especially since they regularly send us support on Instagram via stories, just like Julien Guirado, Maissane, and Fiona who also have important roles in the series. And we can’t wait to see the whole “La Mif” team again in season 3, which will focus on Carla and Kevin’s wedding!
