Night falls on the open-air venue, the woods still sing. But something changes this year — a spark runs from stage to stage, ready to ignite four consecutive nights. From July 1st to 24th, Poupet celebrates its 40th anniversary, and it’s rap that lights the fuse.

Four nights on fire: rap plants its flags
Poupet has always been broad in scope. This year, it’s rap that takes the spotlight. Four dates, four bonfires, and a red thread running between them: the French scene comes to place its key players right in the middle of the Vendée bocage.
On July 1st, the kickoff is a gently burning one. Oxmo Puccino opens the show at the Théâtre de Verdure, supported by Gaël Faye and Feu! Chatterton. Three voices, three tempos, same ambition: to make the word vibrate before turning up the volume. The first spark is poetic, but it stakes the territory.
On July 9th, the scale changes. Vald arrives with Vladimir Cauchemar and Todiefor for an explosive collaboration that feels like a main event. Bekar, NeS and 2L complete the lineup: the full French young guard, on the same stage, the same night. The Verdure won’t recover.
On July 14th, Youssoupha takes over. A voice, a journey, a living legend of French rap who has nothing left to prove but everything to pass on. The national fireworks will almost take a back seat.
And then there is the night of July 22nd, at the Clairière du Bois Chabot. Gims headlining, escorted by L2B, La Mano 1.9 and Theodora as opening acts. The show is announced massive, the date is heading for a sellout. Plan ahead.
Vibe check: the 2025 aftermovie sets the tone for what’s coming.
Between settled legends and hungry young guard
What strikes in this 2026 lineup is the controlled collision between two generations. On one side, the figures who wrote French rap: Oxmo, Youssoupha, Gims. Three heavy names, three ways to hold a stage for two hours without ever letting go.
On the other, the next generation. Bekar, who imposed his Lille flow in a few hits. L2B, the collective shaking up playlists. La Mano 1.9, turning every release into an event. Theodora, blending rap and soul with rare uniqueness. No shy newcomers here — each arrives with their audience, their universe, their own flame.
And then there are the unprecedented collisions. Vald teams up with Vladimir Cauchemar, the masked rave architect, and Todiefor, the DJ who brought the French touch back into rap. This July 9th night is not a concert: it’s a statement. The moment when a generation acknowledges it can blow everything up.
Special mention to July 4th, which slides to the other side of the spectrum: Keny Arkana and Danakil trace a committed reggae-rap line in the same setting. A different vibe, same intensity.
Did you know?
The Festival de Poupet celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026. Four decades of eclectic programming, from folk to metal, reggae to rap, in a rural setting that has become iconic in Western France.
The pre-festival playlist: all the names of the rap night, already in your ear.
The festival fit: pit style, stage look
Four nights of rap in an open-air theater also means four style laboratories. The summer festival imposes its constraints: heat during the day, coolness at night, uneven terrain. But it’s also when French streetwear takes the stage.
At Project X Paris, we’ve been watching this for a long time: the festival fit is no longer just an outfit for the occasion, it’s a signature. Oversized t-shirt, cap worn low, sneakers ready to take on the pit. The sober all black always holds its place — but color gains ground as the vibe rises.
Signature style: three rules for the pit
Layers. Night falls quickly in Vendée — bring a light overshirt or a hoodie to tie around your waist. Robust sneakers. The ground vibrates, the grass changes, keep a pair that can handle it. Signature accessory. A cap, a bucket hat, a chain — the piece that turns a basic look into a recognizable silhouette in night photos.
How to prepare your trip to Poupet?
First thing to know: several dates are heading for sellout. The Gims night on July 22nd, in particular, is not hanging around. Official ticketing is open on the festival website, with relay on Ticketmaster and Fnac.
Regarding prices, expect between depending on the nights and artists — a positioning that remains accessible compared to major national festivals. Multi-date passes exist for those who want to chain several evenings.
The festival takes place at the Base de Plein Air de Poupet, in Saint-Malô-du-Bois (85), a few kilometers from Les Herbiers. Car access recommended, parking on site. The setting is cited as one of the most beautiful in the West: wooded clearing, human scale, organization honed over 40 years.
Four nights, a spark running from stage to stage, and one certainty: Poupet 2026 will not be just another edition. The fuse is lit — the countdown begins.
