Doctor Doom opens the trailer and sets the stage for the coming storm.

A must-see: the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
Doctor Doom: the revelation that triggers the storm
He opens the ball. Doctor Doom, aka Victor Von Fatalis in French, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., appears first and sets the tone. A low voice, a looming threat, and already the MCU sky darkens.
The character had only made a brief appearance in The Fantastic Four. This time, he takes center stage. His armor matches what comic readers worship. Downey Jr.'s return as the villain, after being Iron Man, is no coincidence: Marvel plays the vertigo card.
"Something we may not be able to stop. Before this day ends, we will face an unthinkable decision."

From Steve Rogers to Thor: legends recalled under the lightning
To face the storm, Marvel recalls its pillars. Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, is presented as the new leader of the Avengers. And he won't be alone.
The trailer offers the long-awaited return of Steve Rogers. Chris Evans reappears facing his former ally, Mjolnir in hand — the detail confirming Captain America hasn't switched sides. A flash of nostalgia amid the rumble.
Loki, Mystique, Latveria: clues scattered in the sky
Marvel sows, as always. Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, appears holding a map of the multiverse tree, but far from his guardian post. Enough to reignite all theories about what threatens the worlds.
Suspicious faces: Mystique takes on Yelena's features during a face-off. And the poster revealed right after, where Doom faces a family tapestry, hints at an intimate story behind the chaos. Unsurprisingly, several figures are still missing in this first draft: Hulk, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, and Scarlet Witch remain off-screen.
Did you know?
Six years after Endgame, Marvel promises a film of unprecedented scale, with a persistent rumor of nearly 70 characters summoned. The trailer confirms the reunion of three universes: the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men — including several historic actors from the Fox saga like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.
Why does this trailer matter so much for Marvel?
Because it comes after years of doubt. The MCU was looking for an event capable of reigniting the box office lightning. Avengers: Doomsday presents itself as this tipping point, the last lock before Secret Wars.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the architects of Endgame, the film unfolds an immense ambition: to converge separate sagas under the same stormy sky. The first trailer shows only a flash. The rumble builds until December 18.
THE DOOMSDAY STORM
An iron mask, a voice announcing the unthinkable, and a whole multiverse holding its breath. The first lightning has just split the sky — the countdown to December has begun.
