We're just a few days away from the big kick-off of the second edition of the Planète Rap football match, resulting from a partnership between Skyrock and Project X Paris, to benefit the Abbé Pierre Foundation. The match pitting rappers against influencers will take place on Sunday, June 11, and it's an opportunity to bring together many stars for a great celebration, and most importantly, for a good cause. At PXP, we want to give you the list of our favorites, focusing mainly on the rappers, hoping they'll shine on Sunday!
Soso Maness, an obvious choice
It couldn't have been a real football match with rappers without Marseille artists. Because yes, football in Marseille enjoys a real fervor, and the club is always ingrained in the DNA of all the city's inhabitants and its surroundings. And of course, Soso Maness is also a big fan of OM and football. He even had the chance to step onto the Vélodrome pitch for the Match des Héros a few years ago. We don't know if he'll be the most technically gifted, but we know very well that he'll be there to create a lively atmosphere, as he did during our collaboration with him, and also to motivate the troops with a speech, if he manages to keep a straight face. Capable of all kinds of antics on the field, keep a close eye on him!
Fresh, the peufra in the top corner?

Of course, it's not just French players at the Planète Rap 2 football match, Belgium has also sent us some talent. The cream of the crop, in fact, as we'll have the honor of having among us the winner of Nouvelle École season 1, Fresh. No need to introduce him further: a true microphone slayer, aggressive but also technical, and above all, tall and sturdy, the rapper could be as effective as a central defender as he would be as a striker whose build would be unmanageable for opposing defenders. And anyway, when your name is Fresh "La Peufra", you're obligated to try at least once to send a powerful shot into the top corner. We pity whoever has to defend against or attack him throughout the match.
Uzi, the virtuoso
To be honest, we've never really seen Uzi play in a football match. But if the rapper is as skilled with the ball as he is with a microphone, expect to be surprised. We also know that he's a big football fan, having made a name for himself with a music video where everyone wore Arsenal jerseys. And generally, Arsenal fans love beautiful football, and that's exactly what we expect from the young rapper, who we imagine is quite nimble with the ball at his feet: creativity, flair, with perhaps a touch of arrogance and talent. We know he's full of resources, we saw it during our photo shoot with him, and he also has the advantage of youth, which others like Soso Maness or Naps no longer have. Two good reasons why we could see him as a winger, a position where creativity is allowed, and even encouraged.
Naps, the veteran
We're teasing Naps a bit about his age, but he'll probably be the oldest participant in this Planète Rap 2 football match, unless Fred Musa decides to step onto the field himself to showcase some fancy footwork (a scene we'd pay to see). But Nabil has other aces up his sleeve: his experience, which translates to a real understanding of positioning and game comprehension. This understanding is enhanced by the numerous football matches he's watched as a big fan of OM, too. We're not sure if his stamina is still up to par, but expect to see him play an important role in the team's cohesion. And he's certainly not the last one when it comes to creating a lively atmosphere; we hope there will be some good-natured Marseille-style banter during the match!
Hatik, the team's star?

Watch out, danger ahead! The player we're about to introduce has everything it takes to be one of the key elements of the match, capable of turning the tide almost single-handedly. Hatik has proven several times, in his lyrics or in various interviews (including one with l'After Foot, which is no small feat), that he's a true connoisseur of the beautiful game. He has also shown that he's in great physical shape, particularly with his on-stage performances or in "Validé" season 1, where we could see he has an athlete's physique. We've even seen him kick the ball around in some videos you can find on YouTube. We can tell you one thing, he has a powerful shot, and in a match like this, that might be enough to tip the scales. So keep a close eye on him, especially since we imagine he'll have a rather offensive role in his team, so there's a good chance we'll see him shine!
Timal, box-to-box
Another big player, this time straight from the 77, with Timal. If we had to define him on the mic or in life (we were able to see it up close during our collaboration a few months ago), we'd say he's a very talented guy, relentless and never gives up, aggressive, and also quick and attentive. All the qualities required to be a good midfielder. Endurance and stamina, he's got it, and he shows it when he raps almost without stopping to breathe in some of his first tracks. The rapper is always on fire and at 25, he's supposedly in his prime, so we hope to see him put as much energy on the field as when he raps. If he does, he's going to burn everyone, and easily. And if the coach decides to play him as a defensive midfielder, expect to see him harassing opposing attackers throughout the match, like a Gattuso back in the day.
Kodes, the man of the corridor?
We know we haven't provided our team with many full-backs or defenders in our list so far. But Kodes could well be the wing-back we need, the man who makes fierce runs up the flank with the ball at his feet before cutting inside or sending a cross into the opponent's box. It's a versatile position for those who can do pretty much everything with a ball, just like Kodes with a microphone, who probably has the most varied skill set in all of Bat 7. And anyway, footballers with dreadlocks, in addition to being stylish, are often beasts. Remember Edgar Davids.
The rappers' team:
The influencers' team:
We've given you our favorites among the rappers, and now we can't wait for Sunday to see it all. If you also want to watch the match, don't hesitate to sign up, tickets cost 5 euros and the proceeds will be donated to the Abbé Pierre Foundation to fight against inadequate housing. The match was initiated by Skyrock and Project X Paris, and we're very proud to be able to participate in this kind of event, especially when it's for a good cause. The match will take place on Sunday, June 11, from 2 PM to 6 PM, at the Auguste Delaune stadium in Bobigny. We hope to see many of you there!
