While fashion trends are more than ever inspired by the "classic" styles of the past, we at Project X Paris decided to pay homage to a key streetwear style of the 80s and 90s: the University. Straight from the States, it quickly flooded the world, and we're revisiting it all in our new must-have capsule.

As we all know, fashion is an eternal restart, a sort of great cycle, and it's not uncommon to see old flagship pieces resurrected and updated to make a splash again. But there are also timeless pieces that work all the time. The University style, directly imported from American universities, falls into both categories: not always at the top of the trend, but never out of fashion either, because it's an iconic style, conveyed by dozens of films and rap videos. It has to be said that in the States, belonging to a particular college is a real marker of identity, much more so than in France. Universities compete with each other (often in sporting terms), and asserting one's allegiance through one's clothing is truly part of American culture.

This may explain, for example, the size of the logos or names on American students' "uniforms". We're proud to wear the clothes of where we come from, and it reinforces the group spirit, or rather the clan spirit. University style is old-school and timeless at the same time, but it's also about taking on a rather sporty, versatile and dynamic outfit. After all, athletes (baseball, basketball, American soccer) are in the front line when it comes to wearing their college colors. Add to all this the fact that, at the moment, we're seeing a strong comeback of the bomber With its iconic streetwear look, it's easy to see why PXP's "University" capsule is sure to make a lasting impression. Focus on this novelty that's already a hit.

Combining old and new

We've been proving it recently: depending on how you combine it, University style can look either rather youthful or rather vintage, depending on what you like. We saw this in particular during the shoot with Boris Becker and Kader Diaby, two artists not exactly of the same generation. The former had an incredibly '90s style, reminiscent of the outfits in several New York rappers' videos from that great period, with the men's bomber jacket in black and white, with wide-leg jeans and a white T-shirt. The second opted for a radically younger, more colorful, more exuberant style with this combination of green and white, with a matching pair of Jordans and a white t-shirt. bomber to great effect. All this, again with wide-leg jeans, because the "imposing" side of the bomber means that you can opt for pants with a wider cut. A rarity at a time when skinny jeans and slim-fitting jeans seem to be the rule.

But of course, a good University-style capsule doesn't stop at a bomber, even if it is the most iconic piece. Visit hoodies are also part of the equation, as is almost inevitable. Several models are available, each in a different color, for matching lids. We have the hoodie rather classic, with the rather large, underlined logo on the torso, and also the number 15 (the same typography as for the Bombers). With, of course, the tracksuit bottoms We'll come back to that later. But we also have the SQUAD The brand's new "University" line-up features new logos, typefaces and even new pieces, such as the round-neck sweatshirt and t-shirt.

Pieces that deserve our attention, with their highly innovative and effective design. First, a quick look at the round-neck sweatshirt one of the capsule's greatest successes. The little touch of originality, which is our identity at Project X Paris, lies in the logo. Or rather, on the superposition of different logos on the torso: the PXP Squad is the most massive, the one that best represents American collegiate clothing. On top, we have a smaller "Project X Paris", and underneath, slightly mixed with the central logo, we have the logo signature in large but fine script. Here, too, we have themen's jogging suit or woman who goes with it, specially appointed for the occasion.

A timeless mixed collection

This is one of the main characteristics of the capsule University In fact, almost every item is available in both men's and women's versions, with specific sizes and cuts. And some pieces, like the tracksuit ensembles, are downright unisex and can be worn by both men and women, with the possibility of making a splash thanks to a " couple's outfit "And every time. And each time, there are several colors available, depending on what you prefer. The shoots we did with our models in very sunny environments also showed us that the collection remains effective whatever the season, with colors that really work well. A word of clarification: the logos are a little smaller on the PXP Squad Tee-Shirt models, for the sake of finesse.

At Project X, we're thrilled to have had the opportunity to release a University capsule in homage to the American clothes that rocked our youth, and probably yours too, through movies and music videos made in the USA. We're even more thrilled to have had Boris Becker and Kader Diaby test it all out, in a shoot that will live long in our memories. Because this university style is a real must-have for the streetwear a must-have in your wardrobe!
