Gambino the MG is the new rap revelation from Les Ulis, the town that has given so much to rap culture in France. Naturally, the media are snapping him up to promote his first project, "Gambinerie". In fact, he was on Trace for an interview and a freestyle. Naturally, we at Project X Paris !

Les Ulis has been a land of rap almost since the movement arrived in France, so you could say that goes back a long way. It's hardly surprising that the town continues to provide a steady stream of new talent today, especially as the 91 region is more than ever at the forefront of the scene, since the explosions of PNL, Niska, Ninho and others. Gambino la MG intends to capitalize on this momentum, having already released two projects at the tender age of 23. The rapper is one of the new faces who will make the 91 of tomorrow famous, and he's already off to a good start, with several videos topping the million mark on Youtube. And that's nothing compared to his notoriety on social networks, which really exploded during the confinement thanks to his numerous freestyles. A productive rapper, he unveiled his first proper studio album this year. The project is called "Gambinerie" and it's a 20-track long format that never gets boring. It has to be said that his music has the gift of setting the mood at any party, with its highly effective rhythms and lyrics that are easy to get into your head.

As Gambino la MG's rap hits the bull's-eye, the media start to snap him up for the famous promo interviews, a classic feature of album releases. And while he's still rather discreet in this respect, he's doing well, radiating a great deal of friendliness, looking at ease and happy to be there. But one of the media that has given him the most space and time is Trace. It's an obvious choice, since Trace has been the urban media of reference in France and even internationally since its creation. Quite simply, it was one of the first media groups to focus the programming of its channels entirely on rap, RnB, reggae and dancehall clips - in short, everything that young people in the 2000s and 2020s were consuming in terms of music.

This gave these musical styles a visual edge from which they haven't been able to detach themselves since, so it's fair to say that Trace was at the forefront of what image has become in rap today, long before Youtube. As part of its ongoing drive to bring new talent to the attention of viewers, Trace TV's Youtube channel granted Gambino la MG an interview so that he could tell us a little more about himself. And even if he doesn't dwell too much on certain subjects, he ended up talking about a lot of things in this short format. His first album, his signing to Sony Hall Access, his Congolese origins, his friendships in the rap game, Anthony Martial, but also his musical influences - in the end, the media managed to get a good grasp of the character, who gave himself away in front of the cameras.

In particular, he revealed that he was greatly influenced by the Congolese star singer Koffi Olomidé, who has influenced many artists in France. Through an uncle who is in direct contact with the star, he managed to ask his permission to use some of his songs for covers. He also tells us that his producer is very close to Manchester United striker Anthony Martial, who also hails from Les Ulis and has always shared Gambino la MG's music on the networks. The rapper also talks about how he handled the "leak" of his featuring "Reste-là", with Tiaklola. Tiakola, with whom he's been getting on very well for a long time, ever since the days of 4Keus and La MG, their respective groups. Since then, they've remained very close. Finally, it was an opportunity to talk a little about cinema, and in particular the mythical character of O-Dog, in "Menace to Society", a very memorable film for all those who saw it. But above all, we're extremely proud to have been able to take part in this interview, dressing the artist in Project X Paris from head to toe.

Starting with the jacket, one of our greatest successes of the season. A university-style Teddy jacket, with a large logo on the torso, in black and white. A garment from the Varsity capsule, the concept of which is to pay homage to the look of American students, particularly those at university, whose clothes are usually in their college colors. A timeless piece of men's and women's streetwear that Gambino La MG wears to perfection. But it doesn't stop there. In addition to the interview, Trace also invited Gambino la MG to perform his track "Hier" live, in a very uncluttered Trace Live setting. The track is taken from Gambinerie, his 2022 project. The concept is called the "T" in Trace, and also pays homage to the concept of the COLORS live shows that have become a fixture on Youtube. Once again, we were tasked with dressing the rapper for his live show, with the "constraint" of fitting in well with the uncluttered decor in which he would be performing his track.

An easy challenge for our stylists. Because sleek means Signature capsule, and it was in a Project X Paris Signature ensemble that Gambino the MG took to the mike to set the mood. As the background was rather dark, we opted for black for the Signature Unisex Hoodie, the hoodie par excellence, with signature jogging bottoms also in black. To top it all off, a little bob over the rapper's locks and you've got a streetwear ensemble that's both effective and understated. Of course, we're delighted to have collaborated with Trace TV on this event, as well as with Gambino la MG. It's not the first time we've worked with him: we've already done an incredible shoot, during which he posed in front of some incredible cars with some really crazy outfits. Check it out!
