Today's pop has taken on many faces and is now ubiquitous. And in the new generation of female singers who have entered the game, we now find many strong, determined, self-assured women who no longer have time to get lost in unambitious "love affairs". Among them is Ronisia, who exploded onto the scene via TikTok. A 2.0 success for a 2.0 singer, with whom Project X Paris was lucky enough to collaborate!

Ronisia, the hip-hop phenomenon

Among the most striking musical phenomena to have swept through urban cultures over the past 15 years, the surge of African sounds in pop, rap and RnB is perhaps the most important. We remember the Bisso Na Bisso pioneers of the 90s/2000s, but it was really MHD who converted the whole of France to Afro sounds, via his "Afro Trap" series of tracks. Shortly afterwards, it was Aya Nakamura's turn to bring Afro sounds back to pop/RnB. A more than conclusive experiment, since the singer has become a real star, even succeeding in exporting herself internationally, not only to Africa, but also to the United States, where she is also much appreciated. She was even invited to the famous Coachella festival. But beyond her music, it's also the personality she reveals in her songs that makes her a success: self-confident, never hesitating to use crude language, playing up her seductive side, but at the same time extremely difficult to win over - in short, a strong woman who knows what she wants and is determined to get it. A bit like many American female rappers.

The young Ronisia is part of this tradition of ambitious businesswomen, who know the street, who know life and how men work, and who won't have it turned upside down. Another thing she has in common is her love of African and Caribbean melodies. The 23-year-old singer, whose origins lie in Cape Verde, grew up in Grigny, in the Essonne region of France, a hotbed of rap and popular music in general. Above all, it's one of the biggest reservoirs of talent in the Paris suburbs: singers, dancers, influencers, sportsmen and sportswomen, but also lots of entrepreneurs, as in all the neighborhoods of the Île-de-France region. The singer officially launched her musical career in 2019, at just 20 years of age, with her first single "Plus de Peine". A small success, but not enough to satisfy the artist, who continued to chase singles until the real explosion, with the release of the single "Atterrissage". A rhythmic track, with a chorus that gets stuck in your head, and themes that will speak to young women in particular. All the ingredients were there for the song to become a hit, but for that to happen, a medium was needed. That medium was the social network TikTok, where the track quickly went viral, to the point where a "Landing Challenge" was even launched on the network. A huge number of people began filming themselves listening to the song, while reproducing the little dance steps performed by Ronisia in her clip.

The clip has now racked up 55 million views, no less. But the singer didn't stop there. As we told you, she has big ambitions, so she quickly unveiled other tracks, other singles, with several million views each time. She also multiplied her featurings, in pop and RnB, but also with some of the big names in the rap game, such as Ninho on the track "Suis-moi". Thanks to all this, she's gone one step further and finally released a solo album, "Ronisia", in 2022. For a first official solo album, it's fair to say that the performance is truly insane, and the singer shows a real mastery of her voice and persona, as well as a real facility for getting in front of the cameras, as in her various clips. A true 2.0 success that has made the singer a media darling, she even appeared on Canal +'s Boite à Questions. But also on Clique, Melty, Views, etc... With almost 500,000 followers on Instagram (and almost as many on Youtube), we can also see that Ronisia pays close attention to her image, and that's something we're very interested in!

Ronisia & PXP, the obvious

We all know that image is part of today's artists' toolbox, in the age of music videos and social networks. Ronisia is well aware of this, as she shows on her Youtube channel, but also on Instagram: she knows fashion, she knows sape, but she also knows how to pose while remaining as natural as possible. We were lucky enough to observe her during a photoshoot with her.

At Project X Paris, we like to treat artists like real professional models, but with her we didn't have to insist. Her ease in front of the lens seems so natural, you'd think she'd been doing it all her life, alongside her singing career. The looks on offer are really quite effective, and seem to capture the different facets of her personality, like the "bad girl" look that suits her so well. A beige color-block shirt, in a "yoke" style, with beige pants in a cargo style, with a white crop top and a baseball bat as a warning. The singer has a crazy attitude with this outfit, and the try-out is really quite conclusive.

While we're on the subject of yokes, let's continue with the second outfit, which is also directly inspired by one of PXP's most legendary capsules. The outfit is more extravagant, however, and Ronisia once again pulls it off wonderfully. The idea of the light blue background, with the decorative elements matching the clothes, really sets off the singer. For the top, we have a denim yoke jacket, with a white logo printed on the left shoulder as well as on the torso. There's also a white T-shirt, so as not to catch a chill under the jacket. For the bottom, denim yoke-style pants, matching the top. They're both very stylish and very comfortable, almost like jogging bottoms when you put them on thanks to their elasticity. All without compromising on elegance. And once again, the result is impressive.

Finally, the last look, which could almost be called the "evening look" as Ronisia is so radiant inside. This simple, effective, dark black ensemble really suits her. The body-hugging dress with its black bosom opening hugs the silhouette perfectly, and if we add to that the little black handbag with the crocodile leather effect, as well as the pair of black sneakers, we get a perfectly balanced look, which could go just as well on the street for a stylish stroll, as in the evening when you want to make a big impression. One thing's for sure, the singer really spoiled us with this shoot, and we'd never have imagined that the gray background could enhance Ronisia and her outfit so much. A true professional, with an irresistible smile, she has everything it takes to become a major influencer in addition to her singing career. We wish her all the best for the future, and at Project X Paris we're delighted to have collaborated with her.
